TERMS & CONDITIONS - CORTEZ CULTURAL CENTER
When you submit your artwork for any upcoming art exhibits to the Cortez Cultural Center (CCC), you are agreeing to the following terms:
-
Artists must ensure that they are able to meet all deadlines and dates before submitting artwork for any exhibit.
Artwork must be an original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted or trademarked material. You may only submit artwork that you personally created.
-
We will consider all generally acceptable forms of art and fine crafts, such as but not limited to: paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, glass, metal, wood and fiber crafts, mixed media, upcycled and recycled art, etc.
Each submission must include a title of the artwork, the medium used, outer dimensions (L x W x H, inclusive of frames if applicable), and an amount you would like to receive if your piece sells in our gallery (35% - 40% consignment fees will be added to your amount to determine retail price).
If your artwork is approved to be displayed in the exhibit, you must also submit an "Artist Bio" to hang with your pieces, a photo is optional. Upload your artist bio here.
-
If the artwork sells, the CCC will retain 40% commission of the retail price for non-members of the Cultural Center, with 60% going to the artist. CCC Members are charged 35% commission, with 65% going to the artist if the piece sells.
The CCC will maintain responsibility for receiving payment and collecting and remitting State and City sales tax.
The cost of shipping any artwork (if applicable) will be borne by the purchaser if sold, or by the artist if unsold and requested.
Artists are responsible for delivering and picking up their work on the dates and times established for each exhibit. Failure to drop-off your work will preclude you from showing at the exhibit or any future exhibits.
Artists must complete an inventory sheet, this will be handed to you in a folder at the time you drop off your artwork and returned to the CCC staff so that we can create UPC codes and labels for each piece. Artwork and items in the CCC are insured against fire, breakage, theft and loss. However, it is the artists responsibility to keep their own copy of their inventory.
The curator(s) of each exhibit will have final say in determining which pieces are approved for the exhibition. Items deemed inappropriate or not in line with the theme of the exhibit will be denied. Denial may also occur if we exceed the capacity of wall space available or have filled the allotment of applicants.
Items not picked up within one month of notice for removal will be sold and the proceeds will be considered a donation to the CCC.
Artists consent to the use of their name and/or photograph(s) of their artwork by the CCC for advertising and marketing purposes.
Business cards may be displayed in an appropriate manner, but no brochures, flyers, handouts or posters will be allowed.
If your artwork is sold, we may ask the buyer to leave the piece up through the end date of the exhibit (we will place a "sold" sticker on the artwork). If the buyer is traveling through or does not wish to leave the artwork up through the show, we may ask you if you can replace it with another piece of artwork so that the gallery does not have empty spaces in the exhibit.
